Suzi has been one of Westchester's strongest environmental advocates, always looking for ways to protect our environment and increase livability in our communities while saving our local governments from unnecessary costs. Just this year, Suzi has:
* Passed critical legislation preventing cancer-causing pesticides from being used on school playgrounds.
* Championed the landmark Smart Growth Public Infrastructure Policy Act, which will encourage environmentally sound development while preventing taxpayer funds from subsidizing wasteful sprawl. The Smart Growth bill was a priority of dozens of environmental and civic groups, and has also been hailed as a key policy change for enhancing economic development in New York
* Cut through red tape to save Sound Shore residents $200 million in sewer upgrade costs
Consistently hailed as a "key voice for New York's environmental community," Suzi has worked on environmental issues affecting the Long Island Sound and the Hudson River, and environmental funding issues in the state budget. She was a co-sponsor of the law that created the Environmental Protection Fund, and has been a strong advocate for open space and funding for state parks.
