José Peralta understands the economic impact affordable and reliable transportation has on our communities. Without a modern transportation system that is accessible to all our economy and our neighborhoods will suffer.
José fought against congestion pricing, citing the disproportionate economic impact that it would have on outer boroughs and small businesses. Rather than balance the MTA's bloated budget and mismanagement on the backs of hard working New Yorkers, José has called for accountability from the MTA board and their executives. He has also consistently opposed toll and fare hikes and provided 1.5 million dollars in funding for renovations and safety improvements to the 7 line.
Affordable and accessible public transportation is also a vital component in providing our children with the best education. As an Assembly member José Peralta objected to the MTA's proposal to eliminate student metro cards. No student should be denied access to the city's many educational opportunities because economic hardship.
