Issue Position

We are all concerned about our own health and the ability of our healthcare system to provide quality, cost effective care to everyone who needs it. That's why one of Maggie's priorities is to hold health insurance companies accountable, by reducing health care costs and making sure patient health comes before insurance company profits. She wrote the law requiring health insurance companies to disclose more information about their charges, enhancing the state's authority to block outrageous rate increases.

Furthermore, throughout her six years in the Senate, Maggie has a track record of fighting for a healthier New Hampshire. She has focused on making health care more affordable and accessible to New Hampshire's families and businesses. Maggie co-sponsored critical legislation that allowed small businesses to receive discounts when their employees participate in wellness programs. She also helped extend state-regulated private insurance to a family's adult children under the age of 26, and to a covered individual's ex-spouse after divorce, as well as extended government-sponsored insurance to an additional 10,000 children.
