Where is the money going?

Eight years ago, our state population was 1.3 million people, and our state budget was $6.3 billion. Today, our population is still 1.3 million people and out state budget is $11.7 billion. We have doubled government spending without any increases in population growth. Despite raising 68 new taxes and fees during the past two cycles resulting in $750,000,000.00 in new taxes, our state government continues to spend more money than it brings in.

While almost every other state in the nation has operated with lower budgets during the past two cycles, New Hampshire has increased its spending by $2.3 billion, an increase of almost 22%

Today, our government spends too much, taxes too much, and over-regulates to the point where it is inhibiting economic expansion. Our ability to fund government should not come from new or expanded taxes, but from an expansion of the economic base. When we build the economic base, it will enable us to raise the needed resources to meet our needs while reducing individual taxation.

Additionally, we need to stop raising taxes and fees and start working on making our government more efficient with the money it has.

As your Senator, I will bring a Common Sense approach to making our government run more efficiently and work to expand our economic base. This will put more money back into YOUR pocket.
