As a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment, John has worked hard to defend 2nd Amendment rights for the people of Arkansas in Congress and will carry that same commitment and fight to the U.S. Senate. His fierce commitment to protecting your 2nd Amendment rights has consistently earned John high scores with 2nd Amendment groups including, an A rating from the NRA and an A+ from Gun Owners for America. John has received the NRA's endorsement in Arkansas's 2010 U.S. Senate race.

In Congress, John has constantly supported pro-gun pieces of legislation and voted against legislation that would infringe on gun owners' rights. He is a cosponsor of the "Citizen's Self-Defense Act," which reaffirms the 2nd Amendment, the right to bear arms. He is also a cosponsor of the "Right to Carry Reciprocity Act," which would allow an individual with a valid concealed firearm carrying permit to carry that weapon across state lines.

John adamantly opposes any plans to renew the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004. He also opposes creating a national handgun registry and will fight against any legislation that seeks to do so.
