Issues: Senior Citizens Entitlements and the Safety Net Health Insurance

I am committed to protecting and strengthening the Medicare benefits that have been promised to Central Florida's seniors. That is why I have fought for measures to extend the life of the Medicare Trust Fund by an additional 12 years, to reduce prescription drug costs by closing the Medicare Part D coverage gap or "donut hole" and to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for annual checkups and other preventive care.

I also recognize the need to protect Social Security. Central Floridians who have spent a lifetime of hard work, providing for their families and saving for their retirement deserve a sense of security. I do not support the privatization of Social Security and would vigorously oppose any plan to do so.
