Issue Position

Families and businesses across our country know how to set a budget and make ends meet and expect Congress to do the same. I couldn't agree more. It's called fiscal responsibility.

Cutting wasteful spending, knocking down costly red tape, and enacting a fairer, simpler tax code are among the sound principles that will help reduce our debt, strengthen the economy, and create jobs.

I have in the past and will continue to support policies that adhere to this philosophy, like a Balanced Budget Amendment and FairTax legislation, the latter of which would result in a fairer, simpler tax code for all Americans. And, I will reject any burdensome red tape that restricts small businesses from doing what they do best-generating jobs.
