Nugent: Freeze Federal Spending Today Out of Control Spending Must Be Stopped

Government spending is at unprecedented levels. Many economists agree that if something is not done to stop our reckless spending, the United States could be in financial ruin. Rich Nugent (R-CAN-FL-05) comments on a spending freeze to stop our country's out of control spending:

"A spending freeze is the only logical solution to help our country and economy get back on track," stated Rich Nugent. "Our national debt has reached levels that are beyond comprehension, we need to limit our spending now. Over the last two years our government has believed in the philosophy that spending money will solve every problem. This philosophy has failed to generate a strong recovery and may have even left us weaker than we were before. A spending freeze, even just to 2008 levels, would be a strong step in the right direction. Any spending growth must be limited to inflation minus 1 point to be sure that this is a permanent fix and not a one year stop gap. This will give small businesses the opportunity to grow and in turn hire employees who would otherwise be collecting unemployment benefits."
