Congress Must Stop Tax Increases

Press Release

Date: Sept. 30, 2010
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today released the following statement after the House of Representatives adjourned until mid-November without taking action to prevent a $3.8 trillion tax hike set to take effect at the end of the year.

"Families, farms, businesses, and the market place need certainty. It is simple: businesses don't hire when facing tax increases - especially during an economic downturn. Employers and entrepreneurs need assurances their costs will not increase before they start hiring again. Congress had the chance to provide this certainty, but House Democrats chose to punt the issue," Smith said.
