Issue Position: Modernizing Our Health Care System

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

As health care costs rise, we need to continue to look for creative ideas that would rely on the marketplace to improve the quality of health care and empower individuals in their health care decisions. We are seeing a number of trends in the health care sector: rising health care costs, increasing numbers of aging baby boomers, and new medical breakthroughs. Many will advocate policies that call for greater government intervention, which is the wrong approach. We need policies that provide the individual patient with more knowledge and more choices in health care decisions. Choices and competition will improve the quality of health care and lower costs.
