Stephene Moore Proposes Plan to Clean up Washington

Press Release

Date: Sept. 21, 2010
Location: Overland Park, KS

On Tuesday, Stephene Moore announced her plan to clean up Washington including cutting Congressional pay, ending earmarks, and making it harder to become a lobbyist after serving in Congress. Unfortunately, Kevin Yoder's record shows that he is part of the mess in Topeka, and can't change Washington.

Stephene Moore said, "We do not need more politicians. We need a leader with life experience who knows what people are facing here in the real world, not someone who is working for special interests and lobbyists." Stephene proposed a plan to end automatic pay raises, cut congressional pay by 10%, end earmarks, and make it harder for members of Congress to become lobbyists after they are out of office.

Kevin Yoder's eight year record shows that he is the wrong man for the job. As a Topeka politician, Yoder has a track record of favoring lobbyists and special interests over Kansans. Stephene Moore remarked, "Topeka politician Kevin Yoder's record shows that he won't change Washington." In 2010, Yoder was the top recipient of gifts and meals from lobbyists in the entire legislature. He sided with lobbyists, and even voted to limit requirements for legislators to disclose lobbyist gifts they receive.

In addition, in September 2009, Kevin Yoder billed taxpayers over $1,000 to attend a conference only a few miles from his home in Overland Park. This wasteful government spending is another example of career politician Kevin Yoder's political double-speak. We need leaders in Congress who will fight for the people of the 3rd district, not themselves or special interests.
