Issue Position

Taxation is a necessary process that occurs to support legitimate government. The burden of government should be fairly distributed among the society being governed. In order to reduce taxation, we must constrain government to only those functions absolutely necessary for the protection of individuals to pursue their Life, sustain their Liberty, and protect their Property. Since all taxes must come from production and all individuals desire to contribute their fairshare to support necessary government, I believe that the current progressive income tax should be replaced with a simple flat rate across the board income tax with no deductions, exemptions, or special interest credits.
