Tiberi Lauds President Obama's Goal Of Increasing Exports, Creating American Jobs

U.S. Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) today released the following statement following the day's meeting of the President's Export Council:

"In his State of the Union address this year, President Barack Obama set the goal of doubling America's exports of goods and services over the next 5 years. I look forward to working with members of the Council to do that; because the more we export, the more jobs we create here at home. In his opening remarks, President Obama said he believes it's "critical to realign the interests of business and workers here in America so that everybody is fighting on the same side; everybody is out there with a united front competing to make sure that America succeeds.' I couldn't agree more. Just this week I spoke with Ohio farmers who spoke enthusiastically about how they benefit from trade. But this reality doesn't match the rhetoric of the anti-trade political advertisements sponsored by members of the President's own party that are bombarding Ohio. We're seeing a deluge of political ads that basically say "trade is bad.' I hope this Council will provide the leadership to make sure the message matches reality when it comes to this country's trade and export policy."
