Issue Position

Neil's views on firearms do not fall into the typical "liberal" or "conservative" political categories. He supports sportsmen/women and hunters, and he understands the importance of continuing these recreational activities and subsistence practices. Neil also believes in and protects a person's right to bear arms; for example, he sided with Republicans and against most Democrats in voting to repeal gun restrictions in Washington, D.C. At the same time, Neil supported common sense reforms in Congress such as having a child lock on guns and closing the "gun show loophole" which allows criminals to evade background checks. Neil believes public officials must protect everyone's interest in public safety while preserving the freedoms of individuals.
