Says Charlie Wilson & Chris Redfern owe an apology to Ohioans

Candidate for Congress Bill Johnson today condemned Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern's outburst against TEA Party activists and called on incumbent Congressman Charlie Wilson to follow suit.

When the story broke about Redfern's disrespectful language, Johnson was preparing for the second of four town hall meetings he's holding across the district in order to have an open dialogue with voters.

Johnson said that the ODP Chairman's lack of respect is one reason why Democrats are on the ropes.

"While his comments were terribly distasteful, I certainly understand why Chairman Redfern is bitter and angry," Johnson said. "His remarks are clearly a reaction to the pressure he feels trying to defend his party's failure to listen and deliver for the hard-working people of Ohio."

Johnson said that his campaign is being run inclusively, not exclusively.

"I am conducting a campaign that shows respect for all views, whether I agree with them or not," Johnson said. "We've had a lot of constructive, encouraging dialogue at the town hall events I have participated in, and I look forward to talking with and hearing from folks at the next two we have scheduled."

Johnson said that while Redfern's comments got him negative press, there are more important things at issue.

"The reality is that it's not just Chris Redfern's language they should apologize for," Johnson said. "Chris Redfern and Charlie Wilson owe a very big apology to the unemployed workers, constituents betrayed on health care, and the future generations who have been saddled with debt rung up under their watch."

"Charlie Wilson has ignored the voters of this district on many issues," Johnson said. "But even he must see that the ODP Chairman was out of line and should apologize; hopefully he'll join me in asking Chris Redfern to apologize to the people of Ohio."

Bill Johnson is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel who resides in Poland with his wife LeeAnn and son Nathan. He currently works in a senior management IT role with a publicly traded company headquartered in Northeast Ohio.
