Blog: September 11

Statement

When you hear those two words -- September 11 -- a flood of memories and raw emotion come rushing back. I remember the first plane hitting the twin towers and thinking it must have been some sort of horrible accident. Then the second plane hit, and we all knew that this was a deliberate act. By the time we learned that a third plane had struck the Pentagon and a group of heroic Americans caused yet a fourth plane to crash in Pennsylvania we knew our nation was under attack. We also knew that America had changed forever.

Now, nine years later we continue to fight against the radicals who want to destroy our country and our way of life. Today is a time to pause and reflect and offer prayers for the victims , for the many heroes who sacrificed their lives that day, for the families and loved ones who were left behind and for our brave men and women in the military, who have sacrificed so much to carry the battle to our enemies. Let us renew our unity as a nation, to do everything possible to keep "9-11" from ever happening again.
