Pearce Calls for Reflection, Prayer
The Pearce Campaign issued the following statement in regards to the ninth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
"Like other notorious dates in American history, such as Pearl Harbor Day, 9/11 will be remembered not just for the unprovoked attack and tragic loss of life, but also for the unity it brought our country," said Steve Pearce. "In the days after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Flight 93 over Pennsylvania, Americans lined up to give blood, volunteered to clear the rubble, and comforted their neighbors who lost loved ones. Despite the efforts of a group of evil men to destroy our country, 9/11 brought out the best of America--the kind, charitable America that we all experience every day."
Pearce continued, "Americans should spend this day reflecting upon the lives lost, and praying that this will never happen again. We should also extend our thoughts and prayers to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have sacrificed so much since 2001, and deserve our fullest support during and after their tours of duty. They also deserve to come home in victory, and Americans should stand with our combat troops in their efforts to dismantle al Qaeda and the Taliban, and to bring about peaceful democratic rule in both Iraq and Afghanistan."
