Vitter Comments on Ninth Anniversary of September 11

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. David Vitter today issued the following statement about the ninth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

"This week marks nine years since terrorists attacked our nation on September 11, 2001, and it's important that we take time to pause and remember those tragic events and the lives that were taken on that day," said Vitter.

"Since the attacks on our soil nine years ago, I have worked closely with my colleagues in Congress to help improve the safety of all Americans, repeatedly calling for enhanced border security and enforcement of our immigration laws.

"And while we have taken steps to strengthen our homeland security and national defense, recent events like the attempted Christmas Day bomber and Times Square attacks serve as a reminder that the long fight against terrorism continues, and our resolve and vigilance as a nation must continue to hold firm."
