Do you believe that America is great? Do you believe you can affect change in Washington and America? I believe, as Alexis De Tocqueville wrote, "America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." Are you happy with current conditions in America? If not, then lets change it. Only you have the power to reform America. If you believe America is great, then I will show you how you and you alone have the power ensure her greatness.
These words are not said out of ignorance or naivety. I am a regular guy, my collar is blue just like most of yours, and like you, I have great confidence in this great country. But you alone have the power to save America, by the choices you make at the ballot box.
I believe that it is time for fundamental reform of the political landscape of Washington. The time has come for an independent voice to help reform the tone and dysfunction that dominates politics today. President Obama has been able to implement his agenda because his party has control of the White House, Senate and Congress. When President Bush was in office, for the most part, he had the same luxury. There were and are no checks and balances; the representatives had to toe the party line or risk repercussions from the special interests their respective parties are beholden to. You have the power to reform the Washington landscape.
I believe its time that our representatives actually represented us instead of behind the scenes powerbrokers that dominate the two major parties. Both parties have failed the American public. The Republicans under President Bush started the bailouts with TARP, and the Democrats have escalated the process under President Obama. If we had a strong Reform Party to act as a check on that power, both parties would have to govern from the center, which would reform both parties' agendas'. You have the power to reform the legislative process.
I believe in God, family and country. I believe in the Constitution of the United States, and that it should be the reference for any law that is passed. I believe in a limited government that respects the rights of the people and the states. I believe that all men are created equal and should be treated as equal under all laws enacted by the government, and no people, persons, organizations or companies should be favored or disenfranchised for political gain. You have the power to reform the laws in Washington.
I believe, that every vote counts, that there is no such thing as a wasted vote, if you vote for the person you believe in. Margaret Mead wrote, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." If you are committed to reform America for the better, and want sanity and common sense back in Washington, then believe in the possibility of reform and support William McShan for US Senate. You alone have the power to change the world.
