We're in the midst of a budget crisis. This means we need to look for alternatives. By giving local districts more control, we can empower them to use the money allocated more efficiently. It's important that the students in both K-12 and universities are given the assets they need for a complete education. However, money is not the total answer. Washington D.C. spends the most money per student, however their graduation rates and test scores are at the bottom of the national average. In these precarious economic times, Randy Kirner understands the necessity of the effective use of every dollar for a brighter future.
