Speier Praises Judge's Decision to Lift Stay On Same-Sex Marriages

Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D- San Francisco/San Mateo) released the following statement today on the decision by U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker to lift his temporary stay on same sex marriages:

"Judge Walker was right to lift the stay on gay marriages and I hope that couples can get married as of next Wednesday," Speier said. "The right to marry belongs to every American and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is unconstitutional. Today's historic decision represents the values our country stands for: freedom, equality and justice."
