Stabenow Recognizes 90th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage

Statement

Date: Aug. 18, 2010
Issues: Women

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) made the following statement on the 90th Anniversary of the Ratification of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed the right to vote for women in America:

"Ninety years ago today, the final vote necessary to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment was cast, giving women the right to vote across America. Today we honor the trailblazing women who fought for the right to vote, and celebrate the achievements of women in politics over the past 90 years. Today, women serve on every major committee in Congress - and serve as Chairs of the Agriculture, Small Business, the Intelligence, and the Environment Committees in the Senate. I'm honored to serve the people of Michigan and to be one of 260 women to serve in Congress since this amendment was ratified."
