Folsom Center Stage at Shipbuilding Announcement

Statement

Date: July 23, 2010

I was proud to represent the State of Alabama yesterday at Austal shipbuilding in Mobile for the Keel Laying ceremony to signify the erection of the first modules on the U.S. Department of Defense's next generation multi-use platform, the Joint High Speed Vessel -- Spearhead. The Spearhead will be yet another revolutionary craft built by Austal, that will serve an invaluable purpose for our country.

Alabama has a long history in the shipbuilding industry and that proud legacy led us directly to yesterdays milestone. The world knows that Austal is a pioneer and visionary in the field of shipbuilding. They provide one of the most substantial product bases of any shipbuilder worldwide and many of the world's leading shipping operators are Austal's customers.

Alabama is proud to have a company in our state that is regularly recognized for advancing the technology of their field. Austal has always improvised and adapted to meet a changing market but never compromised on quality. It is this unwavering commitment and corporate ethic that makes us all swell with pride here in Alabama.

We are proud that Austal is a corporate citizen of our state and that they continue to grow and achieve such worldwide acclaim.
