Issue Position

One of the most important functions of state government is ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens, especially the most vulnerable citizens.

I am a strong advocate of Alabama's law enforcement community, and of legislation to provide it with the support it needs and deserves. We need to increase funding for all sectors of law enforcement, including our underfunded prisons.

Alabamians have a fundamental right to feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods, communities and schools, and government should take the necessary steps to see that this is the case. We must also continue to confront the problems of drug abuse and domestic violence, while moving forward in other areas such as the prevention of Internet crime.

Public safety must always be a top priority.
