Press Release

Date: Aug. 10, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Iowa's small business owners, farmers, community leaders and concerned citizens have until Aug. 20 to register for Iowa Congressman Tom Latham's 2010 Iowa Community Conference.

This year's community conference, scheduled for Aug. 26 in the Scheman Building on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, will focus on topics related to small businesses and job growth for Iowa communities.

"Small businesses are the economic engines of our communities," Congressman Latham said. "At times like this, every community is looking for an edge to attract new jobs and investment. That's why I'm inviting small business owners, farmers and Iowa community leaders to take part in this year's conference to discuss how we can help our small businesses thrive."

Attendees to the 2010 Iowa Community Conference will take part in an open panel discussion with Rep. Sam Graves, the ranking member on the U.S. House Small Business Committee, and Rep. Devin Nunes, an assistant minority whip and a member of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee. The guest panelists will offer their advice and insight on how Iowa's communities can create an atmosphere that fosters job growth and economic development.

The Iowa Community Conference is a tradition that dates back more than 60 years. Since its founding, the conference has aimed to help local leaders in Iowa work with the federal government to build stronger communities. Congressman Latham has hosted the conference every year since he was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
