We Need to Ensure our Troops have the Resources They Necessary to Succeed

Statement

Today, Congressman J. Gresham Barrett (SC-03) voted in favor of H.R. 4899 Supplemental Appropriations for FY 2010,which will give additional funding to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. After voting, Barrett made the following remarks:

"Nothing is more important to me than supporting the men and women of our Armed Forces. Therefore, I am pleased that the unrelated and costly provisions that previously plagued H.R. 4899 have been stripped from the final version of this bill. Legislation that is intended to fund our troops should never be used as a vehicle to push a political agenda.

I voted in favor of the final version of H.R. 4899 because it will ensure that our nation's soldiers have the resources they need in order to succeed in their endeavors."
