During the 2003 Legislative session, Senator Cegavske voted against the largest tax increase in Nevada history and in 2009, she voted against job-killing tax increases.

Cegavske Supports Rolling Back the Sales Tax Hike

Senator Cegavske opposed the sales tax hike that the Democratic majority pushed through during the 2009 Legislative session. Senator Cegavske understands that this regressive tax hits poor people the hardest. In 2011, the Democratic majority will attempt to make the sales tax hike permanent. Senator Cegavske will lead the fight against increasing the regressive sales tax.

Cegavske Supports Repealing Vehicle Registration Fee Increases

Senator Cegavske strongly opposed increasing vehicle registration fees during the most recent legislative session. Senator Cegavske understands that when vehicle registration fees go up, Nevadans have less money to spend taking care of their families.

Cegavske Supports Rolling Back the Payroll Tax Hike

Too often politicians fail to grasp the unintended consequences of their actions. During the 2009 legislative session, the Democratic majority doubled the payroll tax. Since then, unemployment in Nevada has skyrocketed. Senator Cegavske understands that when small businesses are faced with higher payroll taxes, there is less money to hire more people. When re-elected, Senator Cegavske will lead the fight to repeal the increase in the payroll tax.
