Issue Position: Domestic Partnerships

Issue Position

We must expand our definition of "family values" to include families of all sizes, shapes and colors. I've lived with my partner Nancy for over 20 years in a committed relationship. Whether married or not, she and I should have the right to decide who is the beneficiary of our insurance policies, who inherits our property and who visits us in the hospital when we're sick. And those rights shouldn't change just because "Nancy" turns into "Steve." As a legislator, I will support or, if necessary, introduce any legislation that creates this broader, more inclusive definition of "family."
