In June of 2005 the additional 1% sales tax is scheduled to sunset. The State is projected to loose between $180,000,000 and $200,000,000 once this occurs. I do not support a continuation of the 1% tax and will work hard for government efficiency and accountability to assure we can balance our state budget and meet the demanding needs of the state, without the continuation of this tax.
Idaho's revenue is based on a 3 legged stool; Corporate Income Tax, Personal Income Tax and Sales Tax. I will work for fiscal responsibility in government and fight hard against any proposals to raise these taxes. Property Taxes in Kootenai County have continued to escalate at a record pace. This has created quite a burden on numerous property owners. As State Representative I will pursue methods of relieving the burden of escalating property taxes.
