WASHINGTON-St. Louis County has been awarded $819,734 by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Congressman James L. Oberstar announced today.

"This funding will be used to promote homeownership opportunities for low-income and minority households. Oftentimes people with limited means are unable to come up with a downpayment or closing costs, and this grant will provide low-income and minority residents the opportunity to purchase a home," said Oberstar. "The grant will also help St. Louis County expand the supply of decent, affordable housing for those who could not otherwise afford it. Rest assured that I will continue to support efforts to make housing affordable and accessible for all Americans."

The grant is allocated as follows: $73,664 for the American Dream Downpayment Initiative, and $746,070 for the HOME Investment Partnership Program.
