Good schools not only help our kids pursue their dreams, they also are the foundation of our nation's long term economic prosperity. Julie is committed to making sure we prepare our next generation to compete in the global marketplace. To do so, we must take several key steps:

* Reform No Child Left Behind to focus on classroom practices that provide the best possible education to our children.
* Close the achievement gap so low income and rural school children receive the same quality education that wealthier communities provide to their children.
* Make early childhood education a priority to provide our students the foundation they need to succeed in school and in the workplace.
* Improve school-to-work programs and vocational education to help students find their place in the world of work.
* Make college and technical college more affordable so that any student who wants to attend can afford to do so through increased grants and low interest loans.
