Issue Position

Public safety is a high priority for Kim. She is especially concerned about the growing meth epidemic and dangerous sexual predators in our community.

The only State Representative with 100% on the Oregon Anti-crime Alliance scorecard, Kim opposed the legislature's early release program for inmates. she also supports gun owners 2nd Amendment Rights.

The legislature passed bad legislation in 2009 that gave felons 30% off their sentence. It had the effect of letting violent criminals out early to reoffend. this was a "money-saving" measure that served to undermine voter-passed Measure 57. Kim fought hard against that nonsense and also pushed to curtail the number of repeat drunk drivers still on the road.

Kim has been out in front defending 2nd amendment rights and tried in 2009 to get a law passed to protect the privacy of Concealed Handgun License holders so their information would not be printed in the local paper.

While serving on the House Judiciary Committee in the 2005 session, Kim helped pass a comprehensive package to combat meth. Still the drug continues to destroy our neighborhoods and strain our social services. She believes strongly in helping people and giving opportunities to people who are coming out of rehab and looking for hope. Within her companies she employs several former meth users, offering that hope while providing accountability through strict company wide drug policies.

Kim also wants tougher laws against sex offenders who prey on innocent children, and worked hard to help pass Jessica's Law in 2006. She has spent considerable time with local law enforcement to view the system from their perspective even attending the citizens police academy.
