Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL) today released the following statement in response to President Obama's remarks at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas calling for passage of legislation to infuse $5 billion into the Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit program.
"The President's call today for an extension of the Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit program is right on. With countries around the world buying tens of billions of dollars worth of wind turbines and solar panels, clean energy manufacturing is our ticket out of the economic doldrums; it's our turn to start selling things to China and India. I have seen industry pack their things and leave Illinois for too long. That's why I authored the Security in Energy and Manufacturing Act which would do exactly what the President called for today. This bill has the support of nearly 100 cosponsors and 17 Republican and Democratic Governors. I hope the President's speech at UNLV today serves as a call to action for Congress to consider my legislation as soon as possible."
