Blog: What Economy is Bob Etheridge Looking At?

Statement

Congressman Etheridge said this week that our economy is turning around. But what economy is he looking at?

The Labor Department just reported that we have lost another 125,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate fell slightly to 9.5 percent, but only because 625,000 people gave up searching for employment.

"Total nonfarm employment actually dropped 125,000 -- the largest decline since October -- as the government laid off 225,000 temporary census workers" and "overall employment fell for the first time this year."

Congressman Etheridge asks people "Who are you?" but the American people are asking, "Where are the jobs?"

Obama and Etheridge are adding trillions to our debt -- drowning our economy in it. Obama and Etheridge and their so-called stimulus plan have failed to create jobs. The American people cannot afford to continue on the current path any longer. We need to elect a congress that will cut the debt and create an environment where the job market can flourish.
