U.S. Representative Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10), co-chair of the House Second Amendment Task Force, today released the following statement after the Supreme Court upheld Americans' Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms in all 50 states:
"The right of citizens to keep and bear arms is one of the most fundamental rights of a free people," said Broun. "I applaud the Supreme Court for protecting this right for Americans in all 50 states. The decision represents more than a victory for gun rights activists; it is a victory for all Americans as the Supreme Court protects our Constitutional rights."
"As the confirmation hearings for the next Supreme Court Justice commence today, I encourage my colleagues to carefully examine nominee Elena Kagan's record to ensure that she understands her role is to apply the original-intent of the U.S. Constitution and not to legislate from the bench," said Broun.
