Jobs must be created and the deficit eliminated. This will go hand in hand since a large portion of our current deficit is the result of paying unemployment wages. We need to set up a citizen's fund like Alaska which will produce income from our natural resources. Alaska receives a healthy dividend from companies that extract its oil for sale around the world. A study by the University of Vermont estimates that one billion dollars in profit is being earned tax free by large corporations using Vermont's natural resources. We must use this money to create jobs, protect and preserve these resources, and bolster our state budget.
