Create Good Jobs

Vermont has been hard hit by the recession. Thousands of Vermonters are out of work, and are worrying about how they're going to stay in their homes, feed their families, pay for the necessities of life. Deb will make creating good jobs for Vermonters her top priority. She knows we will succeed if we embrace who we are as a state and recognize that this has value for existing businesses and entrepreneurs who are looking to expand, start or move a business to Vermont.

As Governor, Deb will serve as the chief marketing officer for the state, telling businesses right here in Vermont and across the globe what a great place Vermont is for business. She will build the next generation of jobs in Vermont by focusing on our already strong positions in clean energy, nationally distributed food products and our high-tech sector. We are already building the wind turbines and solar panels to power America's energy independence. Grafton and Cabot Cheese, Lake Champlain Chocolates and Green Mountain Coffee are world-renowned. There are hundreds of software companies in Vermont leading the information technology revolution.

Supporting and sustaining Vermont's businesses will be the first step in an eonomic development strategy when Deb is Governor. She will provide support for Vermont entrepreneurs who want to start businesses in Vermont and she will encourage businesses to relocate to Vermont. Our best advertisement for moving to Vermont is the success of our current crop of talented business owners.
