Roskam / Cantor Statement on Long Overdue U.N. Sanctions Vote

Location: Washington, DC

House Republican Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (R-IL) and Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), Co-Chairmen of the House Republican Israel Caucus, today issued the following statements after the U.N. finally voted to impose sanctions on Iran:

Roskam Statement:

"Today's overwhelming 12-2 vote by the United Nations Security Council to impose a fourth round of sanctions on Iran was long overdue. While this resolution takes positive steps toward checking Iran's unacceptable nuclear ambitions, the United States must continue to press for strong enforcement and a definitive commitment from Iran to abandon its misguided nuclear mission once and for all. I urge Congressional Leaders to work together to quickly send the House and Senate passed U.S.-Iran sanctions bill to the President's desk to be signed into law. Our national security depends upon it."
