Gov. Ritter Applauds Grant for High-Tech Windows

Gov. Bill Ritter today praised a $2.1 million grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to an Evergreen company for energy efficiency technology in windows and doors. The grant to EverSealed Windows Inc. was among 58 awards announced today by Energy Secretary Steven Chu to support energy efficient building technologies.

"Colorado companies are on the cutting edge of clean-tech and energy efficiency solutions that are an important part of the New Energy Economy," Gov. Ritter said. "The Recovery Act is helping hundreds of Colorado companies advance their technologies, create jobs and maintain our country's standing as a global leader in clean energy innovation."

The new grant is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Energy-Efficient Building Technologies and Commercial Building Training programs, which distributed more than $76 million to companies, research institutions and organizations across the country. The U.S. Department of Energy selected projects that will help make the nation's buildings more energy efficient and cost-effective, train workers to service and operate new and existing buildings, develop and deploy best practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and establish a green workforce with technical expertise to reduce energy costs for consumers.

EverSealed Windows Inc. is developing technologies to create super-insulated windows, glass doors, curtain walls and skylights.
