At a time when securing America's energy independence and security is at the forefront of our national discussion, Congressman Lincoln Davis was proud to learn this week that Oak Ridge National Laboratory has been selected to lead a team of scientists and engineers to establish and operate a new Nuclear Energy Modeling and Simulation Energy Innovation Hub.

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy, Daniel Poneman, announced the $122 million project that will work over the next five year to leverage the power of the world most advanced computers to improve the design and efficiency of nuclear reactors.

"I congratulate and am very proud of the highly motivated team we have at ORNL, who led a tenacious effort to bring this major investment to Tennessee. Through their hardwork, our vision for Oak Ridge to not only be a player, but the leader in the re-emerging field of nuclear energy will become a reality due in part because we have landed the Nuclear Energy Innovation Hub. Tennessee is poised to lead our great country in a new energy revolution."

"I have long held the firm belief that we as a nation must look at all available avenues of energy, albeit fossil fuels, renewable or alternative sources. By looking at the safest and most reliable forms of fuel here domestically, we will be assuring that jobs will be created, pressing national security issues will be addressed and we can once again begin to invest in our own infrastructure instead of foreign countries."
