Hodes Statement on 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Repeal Compromise

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Paul Hodes released the following statement on the compromise proposal to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy:

"The "Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy is not only unfair, it has been detrimental to our defense because it has taken talented, well-trained American soldiers away from their sworn duty to protect our freedoms; and it needs to end," said Hodes. "The compromise proposed this week will ensure that the transition away from this policy is accomplished thoughtfully and with a focus on protecting both our national security and the rights of the men and women who keep us safe. When the opportunity comes for me to vote for this plan, it will have my full support."
