Issue Position: Human Rights

Issue Position

As you can tell from my old license plate, I am a strong advocate for civil rights. One of the greatest documents ever written, the United States Constitution applies to all people.

Gay Rights

I believe gay people like all others, are entitled to equal protection under the law. They should be able to serve openly and honestly in the military and not be denied the right to marry.

I believe the "don't ask, don't tell policy" of discharging men and women from the armed forces, for no other reason than the fact they are gay, is wrong. There are thousands of gay men and women that served their country honorably and yet were forced to lie about the fact that they were gay. It makes no sense and it's wrong.

I believe gay couples should have the same rights as couples that are straight and these rights should include the right to marry.

Women's Rights

I believe in a woman's right to choose. The right to abort should not be a decision made by any government agency, but one that is reserved strictly for the pregnant woman, her minister/rabbi and/or her physician.

I believe in the equal work for equal pay doctrine. It applies to women in the work force.
