Rogers' Webpage Diagnoses Health Care Law

How is the new health care law going to affect me, my family, my job, my business, my country? How much will it cost? How will we pay for it? Could we really lose the health care coverage we have now?

Americans deserve answers to these questions about how the massive health care overhaul will impact our country. But they aren't getting these answers from Democrat leaders in Congress, the White House or mainstream media. The law dramatically changes how patients and doctors interact and increases government spending at an alarming rate.

Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, is launching a comprehensive online source of information, "Fix My Health Care Now," with the facts, figures, and unknown or unreported details of how the Democrat law will change our health care access, quality and cost.

"The overwhelming response from 8th District constituents has made it clear that people are worried about health care coverage for their families," Rogers said. "I don't blame citizens for having deep concerns about one of the most important issues in our daily lives -- the desire to have the best quality health care possible.

"America offers some of the best quality health care in the world. We are the leaders in research and development of new technology, prescription drugs, and treatments for all kinds of illness and disease, and we are the world leader in making that care accessible. Unfortunately, the new health care law is going to change that dramatically and millions of Americans are rightly concerned."

Rogers' website explains the true cost of the law ($2.6 trillion), its impact on small business (more taxes and regulations) and its far-reaching consequences for seniors (cuts to Medicare).

The website is interactive and includes continuous blog posts as well as real time information on how the implementation of the law affects doctors, small business, seniors, taxpayers, and families. The page includes a clock showing how many U.S. jobs have been lost since 2007, and how much the health law has already directly cost employers who provide jobs for American families.

"I hope this new website will provide the kind of information Americans need to help them understand what is coming if the new law is allowed to stand as it was passed by Congressional Democrats and signed by the President."

Rogers, who has served on the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health since 2003, has offered a comprehensive alternate solution to the Democrat health law which is already raising taxes and cutting Medicare to pay for dozens of new government programs and higher health costs.

"By using new media techniques, I hope to provide an opportunity for citizens to sign up for updates, and to make their own comments on health care known," Rogers said. "We should not destroy the health care of the 85 percent who do have coverage already so we can provide for those who do not. There are better ways to meet the needs of Americans who are now without health care."
