Barrett Files Resolution in Support of Arizona's Immigration Law

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman J. Gresham Barrett (SC-03) filed a resolution applauding the Arizona immigration law. After the resolution was filed, Barrett made the following remarks:

"I filed a resolution in order to applaud Arizona for asserting its 10th Amendment rights by choosing to tackle illegal immigration head on. Our federal immigration policies are inadequate and demand immediate attention. Yet, while immigration reform is desperately needed, the Obama administration has not produced a plan that will strengthen our border security or protect our citizens from border violence.

Until the federal government can provide a massive overhaul of its immigration policies, I believe states will have to step it up as best they can to combat illegal immigration."
