Issue Position

* Protecting our citizens and keeping them safe is a first priority of government.
* We need to support our troops, our police and our firefighters.
* In the Senate, I carried bills that changed the way we deal with our DWI offenders. Ignition interlock and tougher penalties for first time offenders are ideas that I have pushed through, with the help of my friends on both sides of the aisle. We need to keep the momentum going and keep our roads and highways safe for all New Mexicans.
* We need to secure our borders and deal with the immigration problem. While we support legal immigrants and know that travel is imperative to trade and freedom, we must take a hard line against illegal immigration and make certain that travel across our borders is legitimate; not threatening. Illegal immigration chips away at our jobs, our schools, our health care, our public safety and takes money from our own citizens.
