U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) announced today that construction can begin on a new water supply system in Langdon, now that the city and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have signed a cooperative agreement.

Dorgan, who chairs the subcommittee in the Senate that funds the Corps, secured $600,000 in federal funding to improve the regional water supply system for several small communities, including Edmore, Nekoma, Fairdale, Adams, Munich and Hampden. The project will inc
ude the construction of new booster stations near Nekoma and a pipeline near Cando to address water shortage issues and expand service in the region.

Now that the cooperative agreement has been signed, work can begin on these important water projects, Dorgan said.

"Improving this region's water system will provide better access to clean water, and I'm pleased that the project got a boost from funding through my committee," Dorgan said. "The signing of this agreement will let us quickly move forward with construction, and that's good news for the many rural residents who rely on this water system."
