Issue Position: Why I'm Running

Issues: Elections

I already have the "been there, done that" T-shirt, so why run for the U.S. Senate again?

When I honored my term-limits pledge and stepped down from politics in 1998 I didn't plan on getting back in. That was until the current administration came along and decided to change the America that I know and love -- the America that you know and love.

Over the past year, just like you, I have grown increasingly frustrated and concerned by the path Washington is taking us down. Our current situation is something I've never seen before and never felt would happen to America. President Obama and his allies in Congress have priorities not in tune with you and me, but in tune with an extreme left-leaning liberal agenda they've been trying to push for decades. In the face of an economic crisis rivaling the worst our country has ever seen, they thought it was best to use their majorities in the Senate and House to peddle failed policies from the 30s, 60s and 90s.

I could no longer stand idly by and passively watch without getting back in the arena and trying my best to stop the madness in Washington and turn this country around. I couldn't look myself in the mirror without saying "Step in, Dan, do something. Help get us back on track." So, here I am. Back in the fray. Ready to fight again.

I care deeply about what's happening to our country and what legacy we're going to leave for our children and our grandchildren. I feel a sense of responsibility to stay engaged. That's why I'm running for the United States Senate.

Getting our country back on track and getting Hoosiers back to work will take more than just saying "NO!' to what the Democrats are doing. We need to say how we would fix things if the American people entrust us with that role again.

This year, we will give voters a choice between the status quo of out of control spending, mounting debt and tone deaf policies and someone committed to making the difficult decisions necessary to get us back on track to ensure a prosperous future for our Nation. I ask for your support and look forward to working together.
