House Republicans have tapped Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) to help build the GOP's 2010 version of a contract with America.
Roskam, a second-term lawmaker and a rising star within the Republican Conference, will be vice chairman of a new committee charged with producing the contractlike GOP document -- initially dubbed "Commitment With America."
The project, Republican leaders say, will be built in part from a social media network where the GOP solicits input from people around the country.
"A newer member of Congress, Peter understands that the old Washington-knows-best attitude in Congress has failed the American people and we need a new way of doing business," Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the head of the project, said in an e-mailed statement.
