Issue Position

Location: Unknown

I am pro-life. If elected, I will work with pro-life women and men in Congress to defend life in all stages, from conception to natural death. My wife and I have raised three girls, and we strongly believe that every child should be protected, nurtured, and welcomed into life. I will support and encourage adoption as an alternative to abortion.

I will work to make the Hyde Amendment (prohibiting taxpayer funding for abortion) a permanent law that applies to all federal programs and spending, including ObamaCare.

I will do all I can to defend doctors, nurses, hospitals, and other health care providers who, for moral or religious reasons, do not want to perform, or in any way be involved in, abortion. These individuals should not be discriminated against in any way.

I will cosponsor the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act. This legislation will enable pregnant women seeking a mid-to-late term abortion to receive information about the pain that an unborn child may experience during an abortion and provide the option of administering pain-reducing drugs to the unborn child.

The United States should not allow foreign aid to go to organizations that promote abortion overseas. Our State Department should use diplomatic tools to oppose the policies of regimes that coerce women to have abortions. We should withhold federal funding from U.N. programs that support abortion, and we should do all we can to eliminate gendercide -- the intentional targeting of unborn and infant girls for abortion and infanticide.

I believe federal policies that undermine the family should be repealed. I support marriage as the union of one man and one woman. I believe parents should play the leading role in sex education and that an accurate education must promote abstinence as the most desirable and fail-proof method of birth control and disease prevention. I believe the federal government should not interfere with the family. Laws relating to the family, such as child support enforcement and divorce laws, are primarily the responsibility of states.
