Senator Roland Burris Statement on the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day
U.S Senator Roland W. Burris made the following statement today in recognition of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day:
"Today, we come together to celebrate Earth Day all across America and work to continue the progressive steps we as nation have to taken towards an environmental policy that creates cleaner water, air, energy, and more efficient fuel consumption," said Senator Burris. "On the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, it is important we commemorate the tremendous impact our country and ordinary citizens have made over the years in working for a clean environment -- but we also must recognize that more needs to be done. With the continuing threat of perilous greenhouse gases and global warming, now more than ever we must work to reduce fossil fuel emissions, invest in a green energy economy, and enact sensible legislation that productively addresses energy and climate change issues. I urge everyone on Earth Day to help take care of our planet to ensure a clean and safe world for future generations."
